I know this has been covered a lot, and I had a look through some of the threads.

One of the pipes has started leaking fluid and I need to replace the pipes, what is the best way to do this?

I have a brake pipe tool that does various sizes, so if I could get the pipe and the ends, I could make new pipes.

When I was last in for and MOT, they said I needed new brake pipes, but I had replaced them recently. They put the car back up on the ramps to show me and I said that they were the pipes for the suspension...then they passed the car! Was that correct as they were badly coroded and have now burst?

you can fix the leak by just replacing the corroded section with banjo/olive fittings and a piece of pipe.

The pipe runs from the front to the back and looks fairly easy to replace. I have no idea what size the pipe is and where to get the bits to make up a new one.

Would a Citroen dealer be worth a visit?

yes it does front to back but also runs over the rear subframe with LOTS of bends in it, you can buy from merc, its really cheap for the whole pipe, if not try pirtech or simular for pipe and fittings.

I suspect you might need a flaring tool for the ends. Classic car restoration suppliers are good for parts & tools like these. Or just buy the parts from MB, particularly if they're cheap

I don't remember them being that cheap

I think I paid about £70 for the most likely/longest run culprits in the leak on our 124. It might be cheaper to go the pirtek /diy route if you are confident.

I'll go to the dealers tomorrow and get a price for the two front-back pipes. I have a bending tool that does that size of pipe.

The pipe going over the subframe looks a bit easier than the brake pipe was.

Hi Turnip, Think the suspension pipes are steel and you will encounter difficulty trying to put flares in them with DIY flaring tools. If you use copper pipe for replacement sections then you can flare them ok but you'll most probably suffer leaks. I've been there , done that!. Best bet would be proper replacements.

The pipes cost £27 from the dealers.

I did see 'pirtek' mentioned as the supplier, on their screens.

I had a look through the Pirtek catalouge today and there was no mention of ready made pipes for our cars but I think they exist. We just need somebody in the know.

I'm happy with £27 from the dealers. They have a new parts person and she has a low cut blouse and they have a coffee machine.

I have got one pipe now and I'm ready to fit this.

Do I just remove the old pipe and replace it? Do I need to bleed things afterwards?
