Hello Everyone,
My problem is that the rear suspension damping has failed on my 230TE. The back end bounces and was wondering if the rear Accumulators were at fault. Some posts seem to suggest this but what I don't understand is that if the rubber membrane fails, oil will be forced into the space where the gas normally is but this will give a firm ride won't it? Can anybody explain how a failed Accumulator can give a bouncy ride please.
I have also removed the rusty hydraulic pipework between the Level Control Unit and the Accumulators. I intended to replace the pipework with new copper but the pipes have a wire running through the centre. Does anybody have any idea of the purpose of this wire?
Many thanks,
