Still not replaced the pipes as they are taking a long time to come from the factory, BUT it has been suggested that an alternative solution would be to replace the spring/dampers with non self levelling ones, and put a blanking plate on the pump drive.
Anyone tried this ?  What parts are required ?

Bob.

Its my understanding that you can't do the conversion, otherwise i might consider it myself!!

With regards to the pipes, these don't have to be genuine MB parts, (now that will open a can of worms!!), have a look in your yellow pages under "Hydraulic pipes", or something to that effect, you will almost certainly find that you will get a set of bespoke pipes made at a fraction of the cost.

When i recently fitted an auxillary transmission cooler, i had a pipe made up by acompany called "Pirtek" ( i think that's the spelling), they did a splendid job to my specifications for under £20!!

Hi all

I think you will find the price of the pipes are not expensive from MB. But the labour to fit them might. It's not a job you take on lightly.

As I have said on previous posts. I have never seen a good conversion yet. Or more importantly. One that stands the test of time with different MOT inspectors. I still can't see how it will be less expensive, if you have to replace both rear shockers, make up blanking plates and fit them. Take into account the time to carry out the conversion. The loss of money when you come to sell it. Anybody looking under the bonnet and underneath the vehicle will run a mile, and if they have an AA inspection. Then they will just condem the vehicle. To sell it you will have to give it away.

But if you still insist on coversion. Be my guest!!!!!!!!!!!

Regards
