Your Mercedes
W211 E320 CDi Estate
Hello

My recently aquired E220 estate has developed a problem with the self levelling suspension. The car seemed level when I bought it a couple of weeks ago but after putting some weight in the back the n/s rear is lower than the o/rear and the rear is overall lower than the front. After reading some excellent posts on this forum on how the system works I am ready to attempt a repair. There are no leaks and the springs look in good condition. The ride is soft but not bouncy. I have disconnected the lever to the main valve and operated the valve manually with the engine running. The rear of the car moved up and down but was not level. If the ride was bouncy I would go straight for the accumulators especially as it looks as if they have never been changed. Would the hydraulic struts cause this problem or could the valve be faulty? Some advice would be much appreciated.

The car is a 94 'L' E220 estate 110,000 miles

Thanks

PJ
