Good evening,

I appreciate your elp with my first post, not I have another.

I have purchased a code reader with live data, a couple of things.

  1. My coolant temp never gets above 58 degrees, - would this be a temp sensor issue or a thermostat?
  2. My catalyst temperatures are stuck even from engine start at senor 1 minus 40 degrees and sensor 2 2203 degrees, these figures never change.
  3. EGR error is 99.219% with a command EGR 4.706%
  4. The air flow from MAF at idle Is 13.3g/s
I have very poor MPG consumption, and wondered if you could provide some guidance on what to do. Many thanks

Hi, I'd say that:
1. You have to test the sensor, otherwise it's a thermostat issue
2. they seem wrong temperatures, there must be a fault. You have again to test wires, sensors, etc.
3. and 4. I don't know, sorry

change your stat for starters, they do alot of work and simply fail.

An engine running cold will affect mpg (poor). Did you not already change the maf and temp sensor as your earlier posts

Hi i did indeed, the intake temp and MAF are not triggering fault codes anymore.

I now have pre and post cat temps as minus 40 and 2203 respectively, do these sensors need changing to is it likely there is another issue.

Disconnect the sensors and see if the values change. If they do the sensor is at fault. If not it could be wiring.

I guess you're still just using a Bluetooth dongle and Torque Pro?
(I think Car Scanner ELM OBD2 is better)

If that is the case I would be a little cautious, not all PIDs have to be supported by the ECU. The tools can read from the ECU which are supported, but wouldn't be sure they all do.

For the catalyst temps, see if you have some parameters called Exhaust Gas Temperature Bank 1 Senor (1,2,3,4) . If so do they read anything more sensible? Guessing you've only 2 though.

If you really had sensors giving- 40 and 2203deg, ECU would have thrown an error by now.

Hi Matt
Did you ever resolve this as I have exactly the same readings ‍♂️
Thanks Mike

I'm still guessing, but that sounds like the om646 engine.
Is the van pre 2010?
'I think' the 111 became the 113 after that.

Aye, that'll be the om646 engine.
Highly unlikely that you have DPF to confuse things, post 7 is a reasonable starting point.
I’ll give that a go first, fingers crossed it’s a simple fix, thanks M80
