I live in Orpington. I am taking my 2004 C200K down for a B service to here in few days time.
Sounds a way to go, but its less that 2 hours each way - AND - much more important - you will get a quality service for a VERY reasonable honest price. The guy who runs this place is first class and is well recommended. In fact people come to him from abroad.

http://www.prestigecarservice.co.uk/

Ask for Olly.

Mercedes recommend that services are completed within +or- 1000miles when shown by asyst. So you need to get it serviced before 1000 miles of now.

Budget for about £700 from a Mercedes garage. Could be more - might be less.
From Olly - ALOT less. Talk to him and find out. Costs vary depending on oil used and car model/year/mileage so its impossible to make a guess.

As Olly uses all and only genuine MB parts in his servicing, he will stamp your book and the 30 year Mobilife warranty remains intact. So in practise your FMBSH remains. This is the principle I am working on.

Give Olly a phone and ask him if you have any doubts or questions. He is a VERY helpful chap and will give you honest answers without any flannel or waffle.

As your car is now over 3 years old, like mine, and out of its guarantee period, there is nothing to be gained by paying MB servicing prices - PROVIDING you choose the garage well and only taking it to someone who will use only MB parts on your car.

I don't agree. Mobiliolife ceases the moment a non dealer services the car and you can't claim FMBSH if there's a non dealer stamp in the book.

I am not saying for a second, don't use the guys above, just be aware of the pros and cons. I dare say Olly (I don't know him myself) will do a better job for a better price than your dealer but rules is rules as they say and MB aren't going to provide free breakdown services if you don't use the dealerships. You can re-instate it in the future though - just have the dealer do a service.

If you've been relying on Mobililife for recovery services, then you will need green flag or other. Your corrosion warranty becomes a little more shaky too though in practice it would probably be honoured.

On the history front - in reality, whilst banded about as a 'great thing', FMBSH is worthless. It doesn't count a jot when trading in or selling the car. What is important is full service history and provided they stamp the book, from a value point of view, that's good enough.

On the cost side, a B service on an E270 should be around £440 - with the 3 years and older discounts now on offer, that should come down to around £340 (this is what is quoted on the poster at my dealership and being a fellow E270 owner I made a mental note of it). Yes, the dealer will try to ramp it up with 'extras' but these are only recommendations and refusal does not affect your service history of Mobiliolife cover. You can always get someone else to do them later if you choose - Olly perhaps :).

I thought you had decided to go down the independent route as part of your warranty policy thread here:confused:

T212 facelift, 2013. A few toys including pan roof, 19" rims, Harmon Kardon, nappa, privacy glass.
Olly at Prestige did my B service for a E320cdi + ATF change and replaced the electric socket thingy that plugs int the gearbox and was weeping.

The price....did not leave me weeping.

DEFINITELY going back there this year for my service, repeating others, my first hand and cash exchanged experience is that he knows his stuff and of equal importance is honest.

I'm up the road from you in West Kingsdown (15 mins away) and it took me less than 1.5 hours and a nice day out :D. Pay him a visit. He also a nice bloke.

Ollie did the B service on my 2004 C200K last week. My day sounds exactly the same as yours. I actually ENJOYED my time down at Prestige - something which I can honestly say is a new experience. He is a rare thing. An honest, excellent mechanic - and a nice bloke to boot.
BTW - I also live in Kent. Orpington to be precise.
He can consider me a life long customer. :D

BTW..........If you do go there, ask Ollie for directions to the local cafe. Its about a 10 minute stroll and I throughly recommend "The Full Frog" breakfast (you will find out what I mean if you go).

If you want official MB service, try the Lancaster group. Currently doing great discounts - £150 inc Vat for A service and I think the B service is £250

If all you require is a B service, then you might not have the time to get to Portsmouth and back. Ollie doesnt waste time..........

I'm also having the auto fluid change which may give me more time however the Full Frog is very tempting and will save me money by not having to take the Mrs round the shops.

Like others have, i'm travelling down from the Oxford area due to his reputation.

To be avoided at all costs...............Trust me. 2 Full Frogs, 2 cups of tea and read of the courtesy papers is best. And cheaper.
