Hi, My 2007 Clk 280 is due its second ever service, service B. I have found a non MB dealer who will do it for £250. They say the MB oil alone is £130 +VAT. Is there any reason why I need to use MB oil? Is there a cheaper alternative? Also does anyone know of anywhere in the portsmouth/southampton area where I could get my car serviced any cheaper? I dont like to scrimp usually, but being xmas I am scint! lol

Also my car tells me that its 200 miles overdue for its service, is this bad? will it affect the warranty?

Thanks in advance

Peter

Its still under warranty, probably best with MB for now.
Buy your own Mobil 1 from Costco, £23 for 4 litres.

Mine was also 200 miles overdue, MB marked "200 miles over" on the service book. I don't think that was for my benefit.

Merc use 0w30, about 8 ltrs for your engine, mb say you have to fill half via the oil filler cap and half via the oil filter housing!!

Mobil 1 will say in the small print, "meets MB 229.3 & 229.5".
If you check your service book, you see what MB spec oil you require and how much. I would guess 7 or 8 litres or thereabouts for yours?

Just remember that by not going to a mb dealer you are putting the warranty at risk, and you wont get any service recalls done foc!!
