I need a "B" service for my C- class two year old. - mileage 16,500 .

Mercedes have quoted me 415 pounds compared to half this from my local garage. Am anxious to save money - am on a tight budget!

Yes, I can save a couple of hundred, but is this risky? My local can stamp the book, etc, but will my warranty still be good? What about mobolife?
if a local is OKAY, can anybody recommend a local near Harrow Middx. I was thinking of Belmont Service Centre if anybody know it?

Any advice gratefully received!

You need to service at least every 2 yrs at MB to keep the mobilolife breakdown and corrosion warranty. However as long as the independent MB specialist services your car as per MB guidelines your 3 yr MB warranty will still stand.
Jberks has quite a lot of information on this subject.

Does this mean then that every other service you can get done at a specialist and then have the others done by MB to carry on the mobilo warranty ?

My 01 51 plate had full MB history (3 stamps) to September 05. Then the independent where I bought the car last week serviced it, does this mean that the package is still live or not?

Cheers
Cliff

Assuming that it was serviced to MB guidelines then I would expect so. Have a read of your service booklet the conditions are there.

Yes I have and also the sticky thread about mobilo life, TBH not too worried about the recovery side of things but there is a very small amount of bubbling on the inner lips of the rear wheel arches (cosmetic only, just being fussy) that I would hope is still going to be covered.

Technically Mobilio is for 2 years then is renewed every visit to the dealer. So, if someone else stamps the book, that's it. You can't restart it as far as I know. This includes the corrosion warranty technically but you should find them sympathetic on a 51 plate and they will probably sort it anyway.
The 3 year manufacturer's warranty stands no matter who does it provided it is done per MB spec with MB parts although I understand they are having a go at the parts rules now too. So, to be safe I use a specialist who should know what needs doing and if I were to have a claim rejected because they did something wrong, I'd simply go back to them.

Thanks, I will have a word with a MB bodyshop to see what they say.
As I say it is not a big deal anyway just being fussy and as I have had new cars for the last 5 years or so have been used to everything being covered by warranties.

W.r.t this point, how long is a piece of string and how long can they be sympathetic for, surely there is "grace" period
before you know it you will be seeing 57 plates etc etc

also back to the post, at this stage of ownership and age, go to the dealers for piece of mind. supply the oil yourself to save a few quid and join the club to get 10% of service costs as long as you dealers acknowldge it.

If any member is looking to pay less for their servicing or repairs, why don't you just ask the dealer for a discount. I did this in Norfolk and the dealer gives me cheaper parts and a huge chunk off the labour costs. I'm happy as I get a full FMBSH and all the benefits cheaper than most.
