Around £250 but its well negotiable these days. We've just done a deal with our local dealership. £249 for a B on an E220 (started at £450) and a "good deal" (don't know whats involved yet so can't give the price) for my E270's D+.

In theory you should be able to get them down to £125 ish but you may need to play one dealership off against another. It seem unconventional to negotiate with a dealer for service costs as we're all used to paying whatever they ask, but believe me, with the competition from indies and now block exemption, their bread and butter (all cars < 3 years old) is no longer secure and they're having to compete.

£323 is insane.

My local dealer (MB Chester) regularly advertises A services, inc fully synth oil, for £199.

They're part of Inchcape, but don't know if their other outlets would offer the same price:

To be honest, I would be nervous about having the car serviced outside the network while in warranty. Make sure the indie uses a genuine MB oil filter, and get a proper receipt and keep it safe.

I agree £323is mad - it shouldn't be much more than £250 before discount for a A service, unless there is something other than the oil change to do.
On the warranty side, you have to be careful who you use. Most areas have a well known and respected indie who uses MB parts and techniques. So long as they're one of those you'll be fine.
Mine has been serviced outside the dealer network a couple of times and no mention was made when I had to make a warranty claim. Do make sure they stamp the book and yes keep the paperwork but as for warranty - MB are pretty good. After all, a refusal could have them facing an EU investigation.
