Could anyone with a new E Class (220/270/320)CDi let me know how many miles they are doing between services?
I have an E220CDi which the Assyst indicator calls in for servicing every 12420 miles. The dealer and MBUK say this is within tolerance. I do 30000 miles per annum.

Its not specific to the new E. All assyst based cars have variable intervals. Basically you should get between 9k and around 18k. The main basis is the condition of the oil which it measures. So, by topping up the oil between services (assuming you need to), and running the car warm and ideally doing motorway mileage, you increase the range available. E.g. I had 1500 miles left and had to put 2 litres of Mobil 1 in, 100 miles later I had 4000 miles left. By doing this, I have finally had to put into the workshop, some 18k after the last service. On the downside, it switched from wanting an A to wanting a B. - So, effectively you can skip the A service if you keep the oil clean.

However, if you do stop-start town driving over short distances in the cold, the oil will take a hammering and get carboned up and you probably see no more than 9k before you need the workshop.

Amazing! If my E300 TD drops only about half a litre below full, I get the 'Oil at minimum level warning' which I'd ignore except it shrieks at me every time I turn the engine on. But I still get around 17,000+ miles between services, doing about 95% motorway miles

Yes I agree - I had a W210 E220CDi before this one and I used to get 17,000 miles between services (approx one litre of oil added). This car however comes out of the dealer with 12,420 miles showing to the next service and simply counts down mile for mile! So it is just about to go in for it's fourth service at 50,000 miles.
