Service light switch off Sprinter `06+

To reset the service light (spanner) on 2006+ Sprinters.
Switch ignition on and wait for spanners to go away.
Press and hold 0 button on left of dash till you hear a beep, (take finger off button).

Read below carefully before resetting counter!

Flick through menu using M button.
NB Select menu .31 if carried out oil and filter change only, press and hold O button till it resets.
NB Select menu .51 if carried out oil and fuel filter change, press and hold O button till it resets.

Switch ignition off and back on and check for spanners, if spanners still showing start again.

Couldnt post in DIY so stuck it here.

To be fair Lewis, good info, but if everything was made to a sticky we would have to go thought pages of stickies to get to a new members fault, if a member does a search for a sprinter service light, it would bring up your post!!

Is there no option to select the type of oil used?

As in previous posts regarding MB cars, where the type of oil used can prolong the service intervals, I would have assumed .31 & .51 related to 229.31 & 229.51 oil. Are the Sprinter vans different then, no option for oil grade?

hi im new to the forum and need to know how to switch off the service light.I followed these instructions but a large 2 appeared then went again.I turned off the key and back on again but it did nothing.What am i doing wrong?[the vehicle is a 2007 2.2 312d.

as above I am trying to reset the service light on my 09 311i sprinter
I have followed the instructions above but I am also getting a large 2 displayed and then when I turn off and on the ignition it goes back to the way it was with spanner on
please help if possible " its doing my head in " thanks in advance
