Re: 2017 (67) E220d Cabriolet

Service history all by main dealer.

08/11/2018 10,378 miles A service
13/11/2019 19,558 miles B service
29/12/2020 23,342 miles A service
Purchased by me 09/02/2021 at 23,342 miles
Current mileage 24,219
Next service due late December/early January, anticipated mileage by then approx. 24,600 ie 1258 miles since previous service.

I’ve yet to get quotes from a main dealer and an indi – I assume for a B service? Given the low mileage over the past year is a full B service essential and if so what would be the likely cost at a main dealer?

Thanks
Roy

If you want to maintain Mobilio then yes it has to be a B service , regardless of mileage , it’s all time related .

What @Wighty said and the same if you want to keep a full manufacturers service history.

Pop your details in here to get a price indication: (you can get a price before committing to a booking).

This really annoys me the inference being that you must change the oil and filters every year what a waste if the car does a low mileage. BMW allow a 2 year interval which is brilliant for me as the car only does 2-3k miles a year.
I do the same regime with my MB so it wouldn’t qualify for Mobilo otherwise what an abdolute waste of oil and filters

Thanks folks.
Steve@Avantgarde.
My local main dealer has quoted £542 + £55 for the MOT. (My local garage who service the better halfs VW are £39 for an MOT so I'll go there for the test)
I'm awaiting a quote from a mobile indi.

How right you are.

There was nothing about Mobilio in all the documents supplied by the main dealer when the car was purchased so I've been reading the post here on the subject.

Will report back.

If it’s full MB service history it’s got Mobilio breakdown cover

Well at £370 for a "B" service on the wife's C220 CDi I'll be getting one of our techs to drop the oil, change the air, fuel and oil filters and save around £200, with my bank account providing the breakdown cover.
Checked the list and all they do apart from changing the oil and filter, is check stuff ready for the upsell so the bill would end up at over a grand.

I seem to remember when the big barge S Class came out in '93/ '94? (The one after the W126) that they were offering a lifetime warranty as long as the car was always serviced by MB. Didn't last long iirc. Can't imagine why :D:rolleyes:

Can’t argue with that buddy , I’ve been nearly total diy servicing on both mine for the last 5 years , with Breakdown cover from a bank .

Mobilo is only ever worth its salt if you are taking the car out the country. Other than that its just a free tow to the local dealer for them to empty your wallet.

I picked up some RAC cover for the wifes 2009 ML the other week for £57 homestart included.

To a small extent and thats not saying its because mobilo is an inferior product, its because the cars are so electonically loaded its unlikely the RAC driver will have the parts on board to get you moving. gone are the days of a few spanners, easisart, jump leads and a hammer being good enough to keep you going.

The add ons with mobilo post 2008 (i think mishaps they call it) - mis fueling, lost keys, is good regardless of location as is getting a car.

I had a price of £300 from www.mbsmobile.co.uk which I accepted.
I went to my local main dealer yesterday who upped their price to £572.35!
Having looked at their spec for a B service- excluding oil and filter change- most features are simple ‘check’ items which I’ll do myself. In contrast MBS include similar checks plus full checks of engine, suspension, transmission etc there being no mention of this on the main dealers spec.
Admittedly I’ll lose Mobilo, so be it.
