GLC 300 2020
I have GLC 300. I only do 6000 a year these days. The car is 2020 and 20k miles. The years seem to fly round to the next service date. Should I still have it serviced yearly or wait until I have done the milage. If I waited could I still say it had FSH. I seem to be servicing it more than I'm driving it. Your views would be handy.

Two finger salute to recommended service intervals, aka shag knacker intervals.

Oil at least every 5/6k, if not a full service, or annually, which ever comes first.

Yes you could wait and still claim FSH but, to any buyer like me it shows champagne motoring, lemonade money and I wouldn’t even bother seeing it! Also, why I call most modern cars shag knackers before taking into account their plastic fantastic build quality. Many reputable mechanics still echo 5/6k interval oil changes, especially more so for engines with known issues.

As per DSK. Although I service one of mine myself nowadays, it still gets done annually (one year had only done 2k miles)! Yours is much newer and as above I'd keep it in the dealer annual service network if you don't intend to keep it and sell with a FSH. Looks good to a prospective buyer.

Service MOT every year regardless of mileage, one hit job done and hopefully no more aggro for a year.

S500 (W222) 2014. Turbo 4.7 V8 with loads of toys. Superfast luxury.
A 3 year deal from Mercedes including MOTs is not a bad deal if you can use it for B-A-B services. Inflation proof as well

Low mileage cars, particularly if used for short journeys actually suffer worse degradation of oil and fluids than high mileage ones, mainly because they don't get warm enough to evaporate off any water vapour that has been absorbed by the fluids or condensed within the engine.
I would be looking at a service every 12 months as an absolute minimum.

I wait for the service warning to come on. The car tells you when it needs servicing.

Why did the service interval on my 2001 S203 c270Cdi of 15.5k miles/2 years change when I swopped to the 2008 S204 to 15.5k miles/1 year? Are 7 years younger newer model year MB's in need of twice as much servicing as the older model, or are MB just trying to generate more work for their workshops?? MB specify fully synthetic oil for our cars rather than much cheaper "normal" oil, so why do the newer models need an oil change annually (for low mileage cars like ours) rather than biannually?? Personally, I ignore Assyst, I am not prepared to double my 4 year service bill (even though I use an indie not a stealer) when we do 7k miles pa!!

Very true. I didn’t mention this as starts to get a bit much generally speaking. Furthermore, not all oils of the same spec are equal, some cheaper oils can be better than expensive oils and some expensive oils are genuinely good, some are overhyped bs but, very few bother going to this extreme.

(Even though I don’t do the mileage now, our CLS which is the beater doing 5-6k p/yr, still gets upto 3 services, 2 oil and filter and then one all out DSK style in that time as it’s used for circa 3 mile commute locally and then I use it once on the motorway monthly. The w221 only goes on the motorway even if it’s just for the sake of taking it for a quick spin but that also is no stranger to unrecorded oil and filter changes ensuring the oil is always optimum to do its job as well as possible.
