Or as you guys call it the ASSYST System: simply how does it work ?
oil filter differential pressure?
conductivity of the oil?
Does anybody know or can hazard a guess ?

ASSYST is supposed to take into account all sorts of stuff; cold starts, hard acceleration etc.
The sensor measures the oils capacitance, and ASSYST calculates its dielectric number, which increases as the oil ages.
