Servicing Up North

Greetings all. I have just bought a 2000 (facelift I think- it's got the indicators in the wing mirrors) E200 Estate manual!! I know don't buy a manual but actually it's not bad. Mainly to be used for dog-ferrying duties - hence the username. It's done plenty of miles, 190000, but seems to have been looked after quite well, MBSH to 165k and local garage since. Same owner from new. About £1500 spent on it in the last year or so! It's got some rust around the door bottoms but nothing too bad. The car cost me £2300 which I am wondering was maybe too much - however it's done now. And of course I bought it before reading this forum, oh well never mind. I've posted a seperate thread regarding a suspension issue (i think) but would be grateful for your thoughts regarding servicing in the Darlington/County Durham area, and anything else I should be looking out for (I know i've bought it already) on a car of this age and mileage. Thanks.

Welcome dogman.

wouldn't worry about the mileage, seen that model with a hell of a lot more than you have, oil and filter change will keep it going, don't know your end of the world but some one will give you some good advice!!

Or Staithes Garage, Dunston Gateshead. He's excellent, although this maybe a 35 mile trip well worth it. Years or Merc experience before setting up his indie garage. I recently had £650 of work done at Staithes on the recomendation of Jensen in this forum. MB quoted me nearly £2500 for the same work....

Very pleased with the outcome and the work was very satisfactory.
