does anyone know if the shock absorbers intended for fitment to a 16V cosworth 190e will fit a regular 190e? is it that the physical shape of the struts is different, or just the damping rate?

thanks for that, i guess you must be right ... only ... the dimensions seem to be the same, so i'm just wondering about damper rates etc. there are a couple of shocks on ebay uk right now that look good value ... would rather pay 50 quid for both sides than 120, as i need to renew some of my front susp components ... hmm ... will have to do some more research. will post back with results (if any)

hi flagstaff

I think the front strut dimensions are the same but the damping will be firmer. As for the rear I think the shocks are different as the 16V has self-levelling supension.

By the way I have a single new sportline front strut/shock for 190 1.8-2.0. it is a genuine mercedes part. I'm happy to sell it for £30+postage if you are interested.

thanks for offer, willydog. i've just bought two new gas shocks for the rear (manuf. by sachs), and i now need to replace the fronts. if i replaced fronts with 'sportline' parts, would that unbalance the handling in some way? ... and, do you know where i could get an identical part to the one you're selling? as obviously i'd like to have matched shocks at the front

Hi flagstaff

the part no that is stamped on the shock 201 320 11 30,
and it is made by Sach. I think the best place to source another
one would be from your merc dealer.

If you are worried about having stiffer shocks at the front, all i can
say is that I have Bilstein sport on the front (which are similar to the
sportline ones) and stock ones on the back. I am not experiencing
any strange handling chacteristics and the handling is definately nicer
compared with my stock front shocks.
