Shocks

Hi all, need some advice as new 1993 320 ce owner.
It needs a new set of shocks, i would like to fit a new suspension kit that lowers the car about 30-35mm, also are there any uprated anti roll bars available for this model?
Any info appreciated.

Hello and welcome the best way to lower is by replacing one of the rubber spring pads with a smaller one. MB only supply 2 types of shockers these day, though there maybe some specialist versions on the market

Would you recommend sticking to oe shocks or are there any better after market ones which are better?

If you're fitting shorter springs you'll need to change the shocks as well for shorter ones

If you drop the car using spring pads I'd stick with Mercedes parts for springs & shocks

There is a Sports Chassis specification from Mercedes and you could use Sports Chassis parts to lower & stiffen the car. Original Sports Chassis / Sportline cars have different from balljoints as well

Sports Chassis also has stiffer ARBs. I think the stiffest front ARB is from the E500 or limousine. The front ARB has a different shape for 6- and 8-cylinder cars so maybe stick with a 320 Sportline or E36 Coupe ARB

Lowering one of these cars and keeping the ride quality is not the work of a moment so I'd stick with the Mercedes Sports Chassis setup. If you will be using bigger wheels bear in mind that the shorter, stiffer tyre sidewall will raise the spring rate and will also affect the way the car rides & handles
