Hi,

I was re-fiting the rear fuse box under the rear seat after fitting the tow bar electrics when I brushed the thick red live cable on the bodywork. The car starts, drives & front electric windows etc, etc. However when I start the car up, it says on the console (the display is defective visit workshop). No fuses appear to have been blown but the following things will not work:
Central locking
Boot release
Rear electric windows
Steering wheel automatic movement.
SRS light stays on dash

Does this sound like it Just needs taking into the workshop for a plug in & fault code re-set, or should I start crying now?

Regards,

Bruce.

Malcolm,

I have a fuse "K" but not K4-5, is this the same thing? The only ref to go by is the fuse & relay list/sheet in the car.

If I am unsucsessful & it is getting dark, would a 55amp battery be ok to put a direct feed onto the window motor to wind it up?

Thanks ever so much,

Bruce.

This K40-5 could have blown then put the battery over the wire that you shorted to ground

Bruce.

Yes that was live once,it as far as I can see the k40-5 supplies all of the voltage to the rear fuse box, as this must have blown there should be no harm in back feeding it, so yes join that up to the battery.
When I say left and right, the could be reversed as my info is USA

What a night, after that guy eric starts on me,I could leave the forum for ever. I should not really answer anything, my head just spins.

My computer locked up 3 times sending the Emails, so I have sent 9 separate pages that I printed off first

I have been looking in the wrong files, yours is the 613 engine, that puts every thing in the rear box. You do have power there as the fuel pump relay runs.

You have pile of fuses here number 50 onwards, that leaves the fault within or around K40-5
