Hi am new here so treat me lightly.

Hve looked through the other posting and cannot find a suitable match, I may have missed a thread on the subject so I appolagies in advance for that.

Problem is an older M plate 310D van will not shut off with key. I know about the vacuum system.
The problem arose as follows: -
Fire due to fan in heater matrix and blower. Wires and matrix and fan burned beyond repair, binned and replaced all wiring and the blower, matrix etc. All electrics work fine.
Have changed the brown vacuum hoses that run from the ignition through the bulk head to the servo system and to the pump, problem I see is a black vacuum hose running back from the pump into the cabin but once in the cabin I dont know wher the hose goes as it must have been melted off in the fire.
Can anyone help with the problem?
There is no other vacuum system items in the van, all doors are mannual, as are the lights setting etc, this wouls seem to be the only vacuum system on the vehicle barring the servo unit.

thanks

Your Mercedes

have you tried adjusting your air control knobs ?

sound strange ? my old 190d had the same issue, it wouldnt turn off when i put the key in OFF if my left most air control knob was pointed down (from memory).

I never did figure out that problem but what I did figure out was that if I pointed it in another direction, the car would shut down correctly

strange, yes I know, but the heater controls on that model at least, were also rigged up to the vacuum system, and the vacuum system controls the shut off.

just a random thought

cheers

checked all heaters etc and had no success. However did get problem solved, had some moment of clarity and found that the problem was one of the vacuum hoses, as mentioned there were no leeks on checking the hoses, however the problem was a blocked. This occured during the small fire andwas not noticed during inspectionas there were no visible marking on the out side of the hose. The heat must have caused the hose to blister on the inside and then block on cooling.
Problem solved and van now shuts down.

Howevber have something else to ask if anyone reads this: -

On the dash console the warning light for batter and oil, had to remove them once again but have like a fool removed the labeling and have forgoten which way round they go and onto what connecyors they fit, what are the wire colours for these warning lights so I may put them back on in the correct connectors.

Thanks.

what to do now?

Drive a 1993 Mercedes 190e mileage is 85000. Car has no problem starting but when I turn the key to turn it off the car keeps running. I have to pop my Mercedes Benz Hood and hit the stop switch. What to do now?

Hi that was a similar problem that I had with my van, kept running after key was turned to off.
I read through loads of the other threads on this problem and some other sites but none gave me the solution.
one of the main reasons I found out for this type of fault is a leak in one or more or the vacuum hoses that run from the ignition swith to the pump.
Apparently also in some models the door locks and headlight ajustment mechanisms run off of the vacuum system as well.
The answer and solution that kept coming up was to check all the vacuum hoses one by one for leaks, by blowing air through them.

My problem however was not cause by a vacuum leak but a vacuum blockage when the air was being prevented from being released.

So check both for leaks and blockages in all the vacuum hoses in the vehicle.

I hope this helps as I am only passing on info that I picked up through reading the other threads, and what I gained through my own problem.
