Ditsy blonde does it again! CLK320 convertible - tipped the seat forward to access the back seat and for some reason the drivers headrest raised itself so can't tip it back again - so cannot get in it as the headrest won't go past the top of the roof - does that make sense? Please what can I do - any ideas what might have happened please?

Is there a button on the drivers door to lower the headrest.
You'll need to turn on the ignition for it to operate.

Cant you operate the roof from the passenger seat , then sort out the headrest issue once the drivers seat is back in its correct position.

I remember this happening many years ago to a forum member here, but I’m afraid I can’t find the thread. If I recall correctly they had to get to a release button at the base of the headrest and that allowed it to be manually pushed back in, what I can’t remember though is where that button is or if the seat back had to come off to get to it.
Hopefully someone else will be along soo that has a better memory than me

Perhaps the OP would have the manners to update us.

Am I missing the point here? Can you not operate the roof and get that out of the way so that you can then work out what went wrong with the headrest at your leisure?

so if I get the issue....

you tilt forward the drivers seat to access the back of the car …. whilst the seat back is close to the steering wheel the head rest raised of own volition and locks its self against the wheel stopping you folding the chair back, so no one can get in the drivers seat ?

so you put the key in the ignition and drive the seat back (aka more legroom) till the seat isn't jammed against the steering wheel ? then you get the seat module software updated with grown up logic so it doesn't keep doing it ?

Doesn’t say anything about the steering wheel. This is the key phrase from the original post “so cannot get in it as the headrest won't go past the top of the roof”

I assume the OP has fixed the problem now, or has received a lift from another driver.
