Side Exiting Exhaust - Why?

Hi All,

I have a 2010 2.2 111 CDI Long which we got in 2012.

It has a side exiting exhaust which appears to be an aftermarket change and no one knows why it has been done. It is a standard vehicle without any modifications.

Has anyone else come across this before?

i have seen it before on old T1 vans that were converted to horseboxes to stop fumes from getting inside,unless it was changed to a side exit exhaust in case it was converted to a wheelchair access vehicle if the exhaust was at the rear you wouldnt be able to fit the ramp etc thats the only thing i can think of maybe previous owner changed it then changed there mind on the conversion

This is the proper vehicle for side exhausts......



...specifically designed to drown out the screams of your passenger (it's LHD) and set fire to your trousers as you exit.

I removed them when I'd run out of trousers......

My 68 Vista Cruiser had these, horrible sight on the car so quickly was traded for an LTD
