Side marker lights

Hi all. Just purchased my first Mercedes clk 200. 62000 miles on the clock 2003 fsh. Really happy with it but a message comes up saying "side marker lights right and left malfunction. But all lights appear to be working. Any advice would be great

Check no one has replaced them with LEDs.

I think you should have 4 illumined rear side light bulbs. Often the wrong wattage is mistakenly fitted.

Funny, after sitting outside for a few days, I took the car to go to the doctor's today As I reversed in my drive a warning came up saying "Auto lights not functioning" (with a bulb in the centre). As soon as I stopped reversing, the warning switched off and I could see the lights reflected in the g'rage door.

I drove to the docs and parked. Lights went off correctly with the ignition, Returned 6 minutes later and started up = everything as normal! Very funny - once in a blue moon it tells me one of my front sidelights is inoperative (it isn't) and a few minutes later, it's fine - no other error messages shown.

For the moment while my mileage is negligible I'll treat as "if it works, don't fix it"

Used to get similar with my W210, corrosion on the back of the bulb was the culprit. Resistance high enough to set off the warning but bit to stop the bulb working. I used to clean the bulb contacts quite regularly.

Get that regularly on ours too.

Flippin’eck there’s about 8 bulbs that come on with the engine!

Make sure all fuses are clean.
