Silent alarm ....

The other week when we were away, my alarm went off in the early hours. It stopped & set off a couple of time while I was trying to find keys to silence it. It did it once when we got home but I found a stow away bug in the car and assumed/hoped that the two were connected.

Just now a friend called and commented that my hazards were flashing but no alarm. So I set the alarm with the window open (just discovered the door won't open from the inside even when the button on the door raised ) waved inside the car, got a very short blast from the siren and that was it .... silent alarm with hazards.

Went through exactly this with the R Class

Same as my Eclass, it will almost certainly be the alarm siren batteries leaking acid into the PCB, that shorts the connections and causes exactly what your describing. Once you remove the siren all returns to normal, obviously your alarm won't sound untill you replace it.

Alarm/siren unit is fubar. Easy DIY , usually sits behind near side front wheel arch liner. Genuine Mercedes on eBay

Thanks for the link but that would mean me putting my hand in my pocket ...... the car came with 12 months warranty
