well after having the idler pulleys and water pump replaced yesterday, i went for a drive and got the car up to temp only to hear that the annoying whine/singing at certain RPM's is still there , its going back to MB Centre in Notts when i finish work to see if they can locate this. we know its in the engine somewhere as it makes no difference if we are in drive or not, its most noticeable at about 2.5k rpm so a nice cruising speed which just makes it more annoying.
just had a thought, could it be the AC pump thats a bit noisy its not been serviced for a few years and may have lost some of its lube?
look forward to hearing some thoughts on what else it could be
