My 1985 280SL is coming up to 120,000m. Engine is as smooth as silk, no signs of any problems, but I keep wondering when one ought to change the timing chains. "If there's no problem don't poke about" is the MB advice. "They go one for ever".
Somehow I wonder if that can be true! Do they give early warning of trouble - if it does suddenly go, it could be expensive!
