SL 350 Open Close issue

Hi All - I have a SL350 the car has developed a Open close issue - i had the transponder replaced a year or so ago as the alarm and central locking wouldn't open or close - now i have a intermittent issue - some days the car won't open on the key and others it will - also now and again the message comes up on the Display to tell me that the functions don't work because the battery is flat - drive down the road and its fine

Any ideas ????

Also anyone know the part number of the pump in the boot

Charge and/or replace the battery - I'd also replace the key batteries if they're >2 years old (don't use the cheap ones form the corner shop / garage) - then get a battery conditioner and connect it to the battery whenever you're not using it

I think that you will find that the part number for the Central Locking Pump PSE Vacuum Control Unit is A2308000648.

It's an expensive unit over £1,300 IIRC and it will need coding to your car.

They can be rebuilt, and a good "Indy" can arrange this. Your profile doesn't show your whereabouts - we might be able to recommend someone close to you.

As above test the consumer battery in the boot and charge it if necessary. Also make sure the alternator is putting out the correct voltage of c 14.5v ish. A failing boot battery will cause all sorts of electrical problems - worth replacing if it's old before replacing the pump. An absolute must for R230's is to connect the consumer battery to a maintenance charger such as CTEK (others are available) if the car stands unused for long periods.
