sl 380 leak (again)

I know you've all heard this one before, but my SL380 is leaking badly into both footwells but I dont know where its coming from. All I know is that in the recent rain it soaked the carpets (which are all out drying now) and soaked the fitted sponge mats underneath. It's not coming in from anywhere obvious in the footwell, even the heater box and bonnet hinge areas look OK.

Any ideas of where to look

is the strip of cloth between dash and windscreen dry? mine had the windscreen leaking due to poor bonding

is the car stationary and getting wet, or is it a result of driving around?

To be honest I'm not totally sure, although it seems that the car got really wet inside when it was stationary in a recent two day spell of bad rain. It's usually kept under cover.

that makes it more likely to be a higher

than a lower leak. while you have the carpets out, get in and have someone play a hose over you, starting low, and then moving up.While they are at it, do the same to the car. see if you can spot when and where the leak starts. (excuse the lame humour, i couldn't resist)
