Can anybody help with my adaptive suspesion on my 92 SL. The car has been
stood for the winter months, after reconnectining the battery the yellow adaptive warning lamp won't go out, I have turned the steering full lock to lock with the engine running, checked all the fuses, oil level in the resovoir,
there arn't any obvious faults or leaks. also the switch to adjust the ride height lights up when you press it, but doesn't seem to make any difference, it all worked fine last year, & I have run out of ideas???? Thanks

All I can find is that if there are no leaks, one of the soinoid valves can go short circuit. you unplug the cable going to each valve and measure the resistance if a short to ground is foind on anyone of the three plug connector that solinoid must be replaced.
the other thing is to start the car and turn the steering from lock to lock several times to reset the steering angle.

Fault cured

87rjd had posted the original message whilst we were negotiating the sale of the car but couldn't sort the fault. After some adjustment in the price I went ahead and bought the car as it was in such a great condition and certainly the best I had seen in 6 months for the sort of money I was prepared to spend. The car had already been to a Merc' dealer and we had also taken it to a specialist who couldn't diagnose the fault straight away.
After I had bought the car I was directed to a company called SPORTSTECH (www.sportstechltd.co.uk).
Can't praise them enough - the reason other attempts to diagnose the fault had failed was because the ECU on the car was emitting 'Flash' codes, not the usual fault codes. They adapted a reader to talk to the ECU, this revealed a faulty accelerometer on the front suspension. Although the replacement took 6 weeks to get from Germany it was only £235. Unfortunately when fitted the fault code persisted, in order to resolve this they had to buy a piece of Mercedes kit which reads and resets the older ECUs - even the local Merc dealers didn't have one.
For all this they only charged the labour for when they had actually been working on the car.
So if you've got a similar fault, here is a company that now has some experience and have invested in the kit to work on Merc' ADS systems.
