SL 55 suitability as everyday car

Hi, mpg to one side, is there a forum member with experience of running an SL55 as an everyday car.

My wife is determined to have one, but finances dictate a 2004/2005 MY, she drives approx 25K miles a year, motorway in the main.How suitable is it in terms of ride , comfort and driveability.

My business partner has one and it regularly gets used.

It is one of the few supercars that is long lasting and comfortable/practical enough to be used as an every day car. Its happy crawling around town or deploying its 500bhp on the tarmac.

Its just insurance and MPG you need to consider carefully. That said on a recent 'spirited' run to Nuneaton this particular SL55 returned about 22MPG which I thought was excellent.

The points to remember is things like brake disc and pads that can set you back £1k as against £350 on the SL500.Also the servicing is more expensive

My 500 returned 28.7 on the similar trip to Afies partner

Hi Dooseydog, I use mine everyday and it is soooooo easy to drive. It can be relaxing if pootling around and show virtually everything a clean pair of heels when you're not. It a very usable car for everyday use but just give it a good blast every now and again so that it knows who is boss.
