Hello all....

I have 911 turbo which is great and terrifying but a 'bit sterile'. Phenomenal speed but I have really really taken a fancy to an SL55. Searching Youtube I found some footage of 55 engine noises and letched a while, all the while the hairs standing up on my neck. The car looks fantastic, sounds fantastic, but I don't know what it drives like....Thing is my wife has a SLK which I drive now and then and everytime I confess to being more intune and satisfied to be in the car than I frankly do with the Porsche....am I normal?

You are not abnormal. The 911 (996 and 997) TT can feel a bit dull. They do huge speed but with very little drama, and the noise they make could be better too. SL 55 very different beast. As fast in the real world but so much fun is added by the noise and the option of losing the roof. A bit blunt to drive compared to the 911 but it seems that won't be an issue for you, and it is far from shabby. No back seats though in the SL so with two 2 seaters in the family your friends will hate you :)

the V8 Kompressors are in a different league - don't compare any Poxy porsche to this kind of machine they are know as "supercar slayers"
