Hello all,

I have a 2006 SL R230 with the non-fancy, standard audio system but with the top-spec Nav headunit (apologies I couldn't remember its proper name). The speakers in both doors sound like they have blown (I am assuming its the larger bass speaker), the passenger side is much worse than the driver's side.

I do not have much budget for upgrading the audio system, so was wondering if it would be best to replace with second-hand parts found online, replace with new Merc parts or replace the speakers for something aftermarket? Also, will I run into any difficulties with installing, i.e error messages/codes/SRS?

Any suggestions welcome.
Matt

Speakers are a direct replacement. No weird coding stuff to worry about.
You may have difficulty finding decent replacement speakers of the correct impedance.
Cheapest simplest route is a set of used speakers.

I discovered that the door speakers in my bose system are the same as standard speakers in a non Bose system. So you shouldn't have too much trouble finding used replacements.

Take the measurements & have a look around, I am sure you can find a deal.

Definitely replace with aftermarket speakers. MB factory speakers are as low end as you can get.
