SL Specialists in the North-West

Hi all,

I am new to the forum so apologies in advance if I break any forum etiquette.

I have a 1982 280 SL Convertible, having just passed an MOT, that has started blowing smoke out of the exhaust. I drove it from Reading to Bolton and it was fine on the motorway but after a 5 minute wait at a traffic light, filled the road up with smoke.

It does not appear to be leaking water but does however seem to have some oil in the exhaust. The oil level on the dipstick appears to be fine however so could possibly be something else.

I have taken it to two garages who don't really know what is going on with it, so am looking for an SL specialist in the Bolton/Atherton/Warrington area or even a bit further afield if I can arrange transport. (The police stopped me once on the way to a garage).

Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
