Hi all, on my 2007 SL the door lock/unlock switches are situated in the centre of the fascia above the eyeball air vents. The left hand one has a lamp which shows when the doors are locked, but the lamp no longer illuminates.

I have two simple questions:- how are these switches removed and can the lamps be purchased for self fitting?

I realise its not the most challenging technical issue ever seen on these forums, but I've now sorted the car's big issues so I'm trying to fix the small things now.

Any advice will be hugely appreciated.

I honestly don't know, but at a guess, the cluster with the switches and vents probably leavers out with a trim removal tool. I'd be surprised if the "active" illumination in the switch is a bulb, much more likely an LED, and should be a fairly simple fix if you can remove and disassemble the switch as either a re-solder or new LED (from Amazon or the like)

As said, this is guesswork, but it's a pretty common pattern.

Looking at pictures of the assembly (which are available on ebay and other places) there's two plastic catches to be released. it seems the best way to access them is through the air vents after removing the eyeballs. I'll give it a try and reckon you're right in that it'll be an led, thanks for your comment.
