I have just inherited a sum of money and I am in the fortunate position of having around £15-20k to put towards a new car. Having had the pleasure of an SLK and an S i figured the clear next step was the SL.

Is it worth it?

Which one should I go for and what can I expect to get for my money given the current economic climate? Is there anything I should look out for when purchasing?

I love the luxury of my S and figured the SL can offer me that and more?

Your thoughts/advice are appreciated!

Cheers

David.

Roughly speaking, you do need the comfort seats, they are a must, the 500 is the one to go for, though it depends on your budget, as the 350 after 06-06 has the higher output engine, but no ABC suspension, and it is the ABC suspension that makes the car, re the comfort. They are not as quiet as the S class, this is because of the fact that the roof and boot are not sealed off

Very nice!

What should i expect to pay for a reasonable SL500??

I'm not bothered by the age, as long as it has command and is silver or black im sold!

Nottingham, although I am willing to travel and wait to find the 'perfect' one.

I bought mine 200 miles from home, if anything comes up down this way I will always go and look at it.

Some of these cars are owned by folk with too much money, the inside must be mint.

Best to start looking in Top marques and E & M when you see one just say, and we can see what it has, I did this every day for 2 months, this way you find the ones that no one wants
