hey there.

we have just bought a new 07 plate SL (only 500 miles... score!) with the panoramic glass roof convertible.

on the spec list, it said it had a wind deflector, does anyone know where i would find this???

thanx

(i have made this post in here, as no replies in the other area, and i realised it was probably the wrong one anyway :) )

Hello and welcome with your SL the deflector comes in a plastic cover case and just lays in the boot as there is no place to hide it, if you do not have it, can you ask the garage as it is standard eqiuipment

I have never put mine away, so I leave it on the car the whole time, it is never in the way, it would fill the boot length wise. Driving with it is a dream

ok, so it would be definitely obvious if we did have ours if it takes the full length. lol

i have heard it attaches to the roll bar, so when the bar is down, does the wind deflector go down with it too, no problems?

Yes the is no point in having the roll bar up, if you want the deflector down, the just put your hand behind you, and pull it down, even with the roof up I leave the deflector up, you can still see fine out of the rear

ok, cheers

another question i have just thought about.. when we press the boot release button either on the drivers door, or on the key, it just pops the boot, and doesnt fully open it like the CLK did, can you make it so it opens fully?

I understand that this is not an option, but you do have remote boot closing

I do not have this feature, but as I understand it if the boot is open, the remote will close it

Same experience as you - on the CLK a spring opens the boot fully once you unlatch it with the remote or the door switch. This doesn't happen on an SL - as you can tell, the effort required to lift the boot would require a huge spring that you would never be able to overcome when you wanted to close it again!

I suspect a powered boot opening, as on some big SUVs, may be available but not standard.

Windblocker should have been with the car, but they do go "missing". Essential piece of kit for top down motoring - can be found on eBay if dealer doesn't help.

Cheers, Andy
