 Just bought 1997 SL320, just completed full service at MB specialist. on pre-collection test drive, the Roll Bar warning light comes on in the dash, and the switch is constantly blinking. Roll bar is still working fine, can't get lights off. Read somewhere to hold windows up and down - no good.
Garage has promised to come back to me, still waiting!!! Anyone out there!!! Can't quite fully appreciate her until the blinking shouts up!!!!!!!!!

Though you may think it is working, it is not. the roll bar is made to trigger if the car angle with relation to the road exceeds a specified amount. you should only drive the car with it up until you get the fault codes read out and fault cleared.

Yes very good point malcolm, the roll bar is key to your saftey withing the car!!! if you are having problems with it strongly recommend getting it looked at, as malcolm says it has a trigger mechanism which should pop it up in the event of a accident god forbid... its the olny thing between you and the road should the car flip...

Your seat belts are all working with this module and tension at 0.4g or if vehicle inclines 22 degrees. the roll bar triggers at 51degrees via a module box between the rear seats (under). this all functions in conjuntion with your soft top ECU.

Pre 95 car's had mercury switches built onto rear srings/shocks. post 06 96 have the switches in the control box under child seats, as a safety issue it may want the codes erased

hi Guys,
thanks for reading and responding. I fiqured that all was not well with role bar, so have been driving with bar up. The garage tried to clear fault, but couldn't, I am still waiting their diagnosis....... I was hoping they would know instantly, maybe they're waiting for the forum to suggest something....
Meanwhile if anyone has any tips why it's not clearing I would be grateful.
p.s just been to Quickfits in Stanmore to fit 3 pointer belt. appears to have done a good job. surprised to hear they convert more Porsches than any other marque.
