SL320 Mille Miglia - Significance of name

What is the reason for calling 1995 SL320 a Mille Miglia and does this model have a different specification from a sl 320

Maybe ita a typo, as Mille Miglia do some nice alloy wheels, they are an italian make as well, so I dont see a tie....

Sorry but nobody I know is called a 'thousand miles', the Mille Miglia was a 1000mile Italian road-race which Sterling Moss in his Mercedes 300SLR 1955 won. The car was built to commemorate (I think) 75yrs of the Mille Miglia.

Unfortunately or fortunately the race was banned in 1957 for being too dangerous!

PS: My math is worse than my history. Mille Miglia was for 50yrs. 1955 + 50yrs = 1995, doh

PPS: I really was a little pi**ed lastnight, since when does 1955 + 50yr's = 1995???? Back to school for me.

It must be 40yr's, can someone confirm this?
