    Hi,

I've just got a second hand SL350 (2005) - I have been having a few false alarms - these normally seem to happen when I park the car and raise the roof.

I've tested this myself and can never get it to happen outside my house - it always happens when the car is elsewhere.

Is there anything I can check or is this a dealer issue?

    Regards

Hi. What do you mean by 'false alarms'. Do you mean the theft alarm keeps going off?

These damm theft alarms are more trouble than they are worth, same as the ones on houses. Nobody takes any notice of them and they just keep the neighbours awake.

Not sure yet what alarm he's talking about. There is a safety alarm that sounds if the roof is not locked either up or down but stops travelling. That could be what he means but until he answers I can't offer any help.

I was just having a rant at the thought of theft alarms cos the one on the property opposite where I live is always going off. Fortunately it resets after about 20 minutes but by then all the neighbours are awake.

I sympathize. You could always get a shot gun and put it out of it's misery.

We had a new member yesterday with the same thing and he has not posted back.

It will be water in the boot from all of the July rain, the boot cover must be take out and the foam block encasing the PSE pump felt for any dampness,,and any water stains on the boot floor in the corners

Sorry the theft alarm goes off. I know this sounds strange but I'm trying to determine why it is so intermittent - currently it seems that this only happens if I leave my phone (iphone) in the cradle!! I have made sure I've taken my phone out since posting and nothing...no I'm sure this could just be a coincidence - I will check the boot for dampness as posted by television - thanks

Interesting about the phone, though that is on the D2b ring or MOST bus in this case, and only communicates via the central gateway, so is it a CAN/ SAM fault ??

are you saying that the 230 suffers the same problems as the 170 malcolm? and that it has a pse pump?

I can tell you that water in the boot on the early 230 can make the car go crazy, the PSE pump on the 230 is CAN controlled. Lights can flash on and off, locking goes odd, alarm sounds and indicators flash.

I have been OK once I re sealed all of the boot rubbers and the mods
