SL350 help please

SL350 Auto 2013 R231?
I have bought a 2013 SL350 in the last few months and have a few questions.

1. Although there is no spare wheel should there have been a tool kit and jack with the car?

2. If so any ideas where to buy one?

3. Am I correct in thinking that the 2013 SL is a type 231?

4. After putting the car through a car wash last weekend I had trouble with folding the roof. I think that I have traced the problem to the micro-switch on the boot divider. Has anyone else had this problem?

Some didn't come with spare tyres if they we ordered with 18 or 19" wheels, I think?
There should be a jack in the boot with tools.
Yes r231 from 2012 to 2019 again, I think.
We had a problem with the miro switch. Take it apart and give it a clean. ;)

I don't believe the R231 came with a toolkit or jack supplied.

Welcome Jim.

Yes, the R230 was discontinued in 2011, so your 2013 car is likely an R231. If you can post a photo, we can confirm 100%.

There was No jack or tool kit supplied with the R231. Instead you should find a tyre compressor and a canister of goo under the boot floor.

The reasoning being, if you have no spare wheel, why do you need a jack ? The tyre kit should help you get home.

Is your roof working now ? If not, It is worth spraying the microswitches with electrical contact cleaner.

Yes working thank you, I cleaned and dried out the micro switch because it looked damp I also sprayed with anti oxidisation and ordered a new one from the local dealer (£21.00)
While on the phone to them they confirmed no jack on R231 but I’m going to get one anyway because I can get myself out of trouble should the need arise.

Once you’ve jacked the car up what are you going to do? Take the wheel off and carry it to a tyre dealer?

Yes probably as I live in the country we have other vechicles I can use and it wouldn’t be the first time we have trashed a tyre on a stone. Anyway no harm in belt and braces
Also while driving in the south of France a few years ago in our SLK we had a stone in the brake pad and I was very glad of a jack and wheel brace to be able to remove it.
I think we should agree to differ on that subject.

It is a big heavy car, over 2 tonnes, be careful lifting it on a little tin bottle or scissor jack on uneven ground, with no suitable jacking points. Much better use a 3 tonne trolley jack and axle stands.

If manufacturer does not provide a jack, there are reasons for this.

Safety first for me.

yes thanks Mark I’ve a fair bit of experience in practical engineering with a fully equipped workshop for my business. But you’re quite right as I’ve seen too many people taking risks over the years to be taking chances.
