I have recently bought a 2011 SL350.

It came without tools, and I have acquired a tool roll & tools on eBay. I have also managed to acquire a 17" collapsible spare wheel. I'm trying to ascertain what tools etc..should have come with the collapsible spare wheel.

Illustrations show a foam insert, a jack and a towing eye, all of which I am missing. Part number for these missing parts would be much appreciated.

I would also appreciate thoughts on what additional tools one requires & what spares should be carried. Clearly there's not much space, but to comply with the law in certain EU countries one needs a spare bulb kit, to which I would add fuses.

Thanks in advance.

You could give Dronsfields a call (Forum Sponsors) they're Mercedes Breakers and will no doubt have a few tool kits

You should also have a compressor (you'll need it to inflate the spare which is stored inflated) and we also carry a can of goop.

Blobcat - Many thanks; I had already searched Dronsfields website to no avail, but will call them tomorrow.

LostKiwi - Many thanks; I should have said that I have a 12v compressor & goop; although I would prefer not to use the latter!

Nigel I used a can of this on a slow puncture I had in my RRS on 22" rims during the Covid lockdown. It does not render the tyre unusable after using. I was sceptical about it but I dropped the tyre down to about 20psi, connected the aerosol and it did its stuff. Took it up to 48psi and no deflation experienced for next 6-7 weeks. Keep a can in all the cars now 'just-in-case' - Andy

Andy

Many thanks.

The link doesn't work, for me; it takes me to my Amazon orders - can you please name the product or give me an alternate link.

Regards

Nigel

Thanks Andy

I'm about to order this. Interesting pricing; one for £3.50, or 4 for £24.99 (£6.25 each !)

Thanks.

Spare bulbs are also a requirement in France, as is a warning triangle, and two NF certified breathalysers.

You don't need the breathalysers. That's now defunct.

A very good point. Unless there has been a recent change in French law the position is that you are still required to carry breathalysers but, believe it or not, there is no penalty for failing to do so!

I won't comment on Brexit !

I'm making progress. Spare bulb kit to satisfy the French is next on the list. Does MB or anyone else produce one for the R230 please?

Amazon say that this is the kit:-

but not a single MB is listed in the application list:-
//www.amazon.co.uk/UKB4C-Emergency-Including-European-Travel/dp/B0778N1NZH/ref=sr_1_1?adgrpid=56015985249&dchild=1&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5an56uuD6wIVwbHtCh39FAyMEAMYASAAEgKPD_D_BwE&hvadid=259006373973&hvdev=c&hvlocphy=9045772&hvnetw=g&hvqmt=b&hvrand=13721782857901596894&hvtargid=kwd-508072789432&hydadcr=6848_1812880&keywords=mercedes+spare+bulb+kit&pid=IECrksl&qid=1596624088&sr=1-1&tag=googhydr-21&vehicle=74-931-4806-26576-3-1&vehicleName=Mercedes-Benz+SL+Convertible+350

I'm inclined to buy this to "show" at £8.50 it's not a lot of money, and might keep "les flics" off my back. I'd pack a screen print from Amazon with the bulbs!

In reality any spare bulbs in a bag in the boot is enough.
I always found it farcical having to carry spare bulbs when you see the condition of the cars in Paris...
I had a set made up for my W210 when I took it over in the early 2000’s I’ve carried the same set of bulbs in every car since...:p:D

I'm going to make up a spare bulb kit; having studied Page 206 of the SL Owner's Manual it's going to contain one off of each of the following:-

H7 55W
W 5W
PY 21W
P 21W
C 5 W

I need to sort out some fuses too, I don't have the "Fuse allocation chart" referred to on Page 227 of the manual; could anyone please direct me to, or provide, a copy please.

I have found this, but it may only relate to NA vehicles ?

I use a cheap £5 set of bulbs as my 'spares'. Never been asked for them yet.
