SL350 2012 R230
Hi everyone, not sure I'm in the correct section but I just bought a beautiful 2012 R230 Palladium grey SL350 with the optional factory sport pack.
From the spec it includes a special air filter for a "sportier sound".
Does anyone know the correct part number and what the regular one is?
Many thanks.

The part number should be written on it ? Never heard of an MB sportier filter by the way

I'd be interested to see under the bonnet to see what the difference is. I've never heard of it either.

The air filter or cleaner as they call it is written on the official Mercedes literature about the car and also on the launch test drives. I haven't taken mine out to check the part number yet but when I called Mercedes parts dept they didn't have a clue. By my chassis number it should be A1130940004. I might call them with a non sport pack chassis number and see if they are the same part number.

I assume they are talking about increasing engine air induction noise ? I can't think that changing the air filter would make much difference. The 230 is very well sound insulated. With the 55 it's the exhaust noise you hear.

Never known MB to offer such - unless an AMG.
Who said its got a special filter. the person who sold you, assuming not MB.
Whip the one off thats in there. go to MB and get the correct one.
if the one there is K and N, only place for them is the bin.
Sports packs are body and internal styling. Not engine related.

I called Mercedes and they confirmed that the air filter part numbers for both the sport packs and non sport pack versions are identical.

However the air intake housings are separate numbers.

Also here is a link I found, hope it works. Mine is the later facelift R230 but the same applies.

I see where you are coming from as the article mentions an alleged sports filter.
Then again the article is written by a journalist and not an official preas release.
A MB dealer with the correct vin will give you whats right.
Did you look at what's on at the moment.

I gave my Mercedes dealer my vin number and also one of another SL of the same year but without the sport pack and he confirmed that both cars have the same air filter part number.
It's the air intake that's different between the two car types.
