SL500 1991 Highbeam .... NONE

Checked the fuses, all ok, hit highbeam and lowbeam cuts out (as i'm sure it should) but i'm left with no lights at all. Any ideas????

Hi Simon,

I see you are a new recruit! So can you tell us a little more of the history of the problem - have you just got the car and they have never worked or have they just stopped working? Since the lights are independantly fused - no 15 and 16 I would guess its a problem with the relay or dodgy contact on the stalk.

Just got the car a week ago, highbeam has never worked (only found out a couple of days ago) Where is the relay located so I can check that before getting a new stalk.

Check to see if the blue light on the dash comes on when you select main beam if that comes on it most likely is both bulbs that are blown.

The blue light on the dash is fused with no 16 fuse also. Can you flash your main beams by pulling the stalk towards you ?

Lowbeam (Xenon light)

:confused:Dear All Please Need your HELP

I have S320 2001. I was driving home one evening when the Lamp which I believe was lowbeam(R) suddenly when off with the hope that if I turned the engine off it will reset itself and come back On, On the dash board it says check the Lowbeam Right light. I when to buy two new xenon (6000k) now both lights have stopped working please help. I revert and put previous bulbs yet they are still not working.:confused:

This could be the control units, and I think that you have no choice but to plug into a STAR test set to see what has happened

Malcolm,

I am very grateful for your comments yesterday. I was on a slop driving downward tonight and I swich on my head lamp because it dark one of the head lamp left xenon just suddenly come. it was the left one that flicker before the right one went off
you mentioned control unit yesterday how easy to change if at all?
