Always wanted one of these - my dream car.
But is it more trouble than its worth - even with a MB warranty, and is the SL320 a better option ?

I've looked at getting a 89+ 500SL also.
Have a look at Mercedesshop.com that Ernest pointed out to me. Do a search on their forum under "500SL" to see what issues people have had.
Seems leaking hardtops are common along with fuel leaks from one of the rear pumps.

I insisted on getting a 6-cylinder myself rather then buying an 8-cylinder 500...way more expensive in service and petrol (besides insurance and road tax).
