Just bought an SL 500 and noticed that there is a slight "clunk" coming from the driveline when I decelerate, just before coming to a stop. I asked the mechanic about this when I had the car cheched out before I bought it and he said that many SL's do that. I'm not sure I believe him. Either way, the car is under warranty for the next 3yr/36K, but I'm wondering if I should take it into MB for their opinion. Anyone elses SL do this?

Sl 500

Hi

Is you car the new SL500 (model 230) fantastic car. If it is I suspect your noise is what MB call " Brake pressure release noise" This has been a problem with SBC on the 230's from day one I can only describe it as a squelching noise that appears to come from the O/s/r . There is a very simple cure ask the stealer to bleed the brakes. Just to confirm this is your noise (slill assuming model 230) The noise can be reproduced at stand still put pressure on the pedal and pump if noise is present, brake bleed is required
