Hi, I have owned my sl500 for just one week and the first day the n/s headlight bulb went. I have replaced the bulb and it's still not working? (that was a shock, £65 for a bulb!) I have had a look around on the web and these seem to be a costly thing to repair. Has anyone got any advise on what it could be and if it is going to be expensive. Also the tyre pressure monitor keeps flashing up a message, "tyre pressure monitor, visit workshop" any ideas? Any comments much appreciated. Many thanks, Lorraine

So you have Xenon lamps, and the burner could have gone.
Did you replace the lamp with the correct Xenon

With the tyre warning, one of the sensor in a wheel will have gone,,I got so peeded off with the thing I had mine turned off, the wheel sensor cost £100 each and they do not last that long, also you have 4 of them

sl500 headlight

I got a local garage (not a merc one) order me a bulb, its the ds2 one, hope they got me right one? I have found a local merc specialist so think i will take it to them, think i will do the same as you and get the tyre monitors turned off sounds like they more hassal than worth? Hopefully not going to cost me a fortune to fix after only a week of ownership? Thanks for that :)

The chances are that the original one was OK and possibly the burner that failed

You say that you have a good indie, would you car to name him..
These cars must be plugged into STAR the MB diagnostic test gear.

I have had mine 2½ years or more, I will not mention how much mine has cost, many never go wrong, in fact the only MBs that do go wrong are ón the forums. Wonderful cars though

Must admit apart from these two little faults i'm loving the car, i did a 400 mile round trip to get her and it was worth it, can't wait for the summer get the top off! The garage i found is called Merx, ( in Stoke-on-Trent) not sure how they are but have been around for some time so must be ok? I kept the old bulb so if it is the burner at lease i will have a spare, fingers crossed.
Mine has the panoramic roof has yours? if so does it creak a lot?
:)

Yes wait till the tyres are worn they sell on Ebay quite well. I have 3 sets, 17" 18" and 19"

Is your roof creaking or knocking

OK there are two roof bolts that you can change,,one thing you must do is to go over all off the rubbers with a silicon grease, to improve them for noise and water what year is the car

Thank you, silicon comes from two sources, plumbers or aerosols from Halfords where you just squirt a little out onto a cloth.'

To do the ones that you cannot get to, just have something like a flat piece of wood about 12" long, open the roof, sto it half way, put the wood, just under the front edge of the roof then close again so the the other end of the wood goes to the front edge at the top near the screen and the roof will stay.

I can do it and put a picture up for you, its easier

One word of warning, do not drive with no bulb in the holder, the burner can catch fire and melt

My offside seem to work fine for a couple of weeks then stops, I checked the wires they seem ok, do these lamps fail over time?

They normally last for years.
There is another thing, these lamps are controlled by a lighting module, and these are controlled by a front SAM, the off side one comes form the drivers side SAM from memory
