Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me out...

I have a 97R sl500 and it has been standing for a while. The hardtop will not unlock/comeoff etc... Also, will the roll-bar still operate if the hardtop is in position because, if so, that is not working either!!!

Just for info... Opened doors, unplugged rear heated screen, put key in ignition to position 2 and then pulled the roof switch back withing 10 secs... and nothing... (just incase i am doing anything wrong).

Wonder if anyone has any ideas or will it have to be taken to merc....

Many thanks...

Oscar

Having read some of the other threads

get your engine started, go for a good drive to juice up the battery and try again.

Does the light on the switch flash when you pull it back?

Also, If your battery went completely flat, you will need to do a window re-set.

No, the light does not flash...

How would i go about getting the windows reset? Will this effect the roof operation?

Many thanks for your replies and help

Hold window down button down for five secs extra after it has opened

Hold up part up for 5 secs after window has shut.

Repeat on passenger window

PS: You say that the roll over bar is not lifting with the switch. Is the warning light not on in the instrument cluster when driving. Does it light when you turn key to position '2'.
