Hi everyone.

Both foward sunroof drains on my 1980 450 SLC are blocked, resulting in water ingress wetting the seat and footwells. I've tried feeding down stiff welding wire, strimmer nylon, water etc. but have so far failed to unblock the drains. The wire seems to go a for a fair distance.

My question is, where do these drains exit? If I can tackle the problem from this end I might have more success.

The rectangular drain holes on the sills are clear by the way.

I have pm'd Myros as he knows 107's inside out, but if in the meantime anyone can tell me where these drains exit I would be most grateful.

Thanks. :)

I have successfully cleared drains on other makes using a "sani snake".
Available from diy / hardware stores for about £3. It is a tightly coiled flexible spring about 1 mtr long and terminates at one end with a hook (similar to end of corkscrew) and the other end has a plastic or wooden handle similar to a file handle. Insert into the drain and progressively push in and twist at same time, then withdraw and repeat, this will eventually break up the blockage. Depending where the car has been parked, you could have hard packed muck in there. Simply prodding with wire does not always work.

There are grommets under the car at the lower ends of the drains, they have a small plug like afair moulded in their inside in this plug there are 3 or 4 small holes which the water drains through, I think they are intended to prevent rain etc getting back up the drains.

Any big(ish) cobs of mud or additional underseal/stoneguard will cover them and block the drain holes where they protrude down from the floor pan.

I dont know the exact location of them on your car but they exit about 9-12" behind the wheels on 201 & 124 models (down the the front pillar and thru the boot).

Find them from under the car before you risk puncturing or detaching the hoses with a proding wire from the top, they are about 30mm dia with a 15 mm hose just poking out downwards. If they become detached at the top it might be one hell of a task getting them back in place.
