SLC250d Apple CarPlay

Occasionally when I plug my iPhone 11 into the car connector it fails to start the Car Play. Once this has happened its permeant, no matter how many times I try.
However if i plug my wife's iPhone in it fires straight up, then plug my iPhone back in & Car Play works again for months.
Anyone had this issue, or any observations please?

The obvious question is whether your iOS version is up to date?

Yes both cell phones have the latest iOS installed.
