Slipping Clutch!

Clutch is slipping badly on my W203. I'm assuming it's self adjusting, so looks like a new one required. Ouch! Anyone any rough idea of cost? How many hours labour? My indie charges £34.00 per hour.
Just preparing myself for the worst!

Sorry to hear that Al. But even after towing that caravan I wouldn't expect a clutch to go so early.

Should've got an auto! ;)

I'll have an ask around my friends, and see if anyone can point you in a favourable direction. I'd get a price for a clutch kit; it is a hefty job, but not out off the remit of a brave DIYer! Fancy it? We could do it in an afternoon.

If you do decide to do it your self, I can provide you with the work order.

It's very tempting! I'll speak to Hibbo and see how difficult it's going to be.
Thanks Malcolm.

Begining to think your right...I should have got an auto!
I may well take you up on your very generous offer. I'll get some prices this week and get back to you.
Thanks again.
PS...Did you get your car sold?

Alright Al,

I've asked Malcolm to send me the work order, I'll have a look through that and see how it looks.

I've got access to a pit and transmission jack, and I've got a clutch alignment tool.

However, the last clutch I did was on a Bedford Rascal! This may be slightly more involved.

I would assume, without seeing the work order, that it'll be;
Propshaft off,
Support box and disconnect linkages etc,
Crossmember off,
Undo gearbox from bellhousing and lower away,
Replace and align clutch,
Put everything back.
Easy!

Not sold the 190 yet, may be swapping it for a 1971 w115...

I'll let you know how it looks when I've read through the good book.
