Has anybody experienced the following?
Just started a week ago.....when at a stop at lights or junction, despite being in D1 the car drops into PARK
It does re-engage once the shift selector is depressed back to Drive but this is clearly not right
Yesterday it slipped into PARK when not quite at a stop.....still doing 3/4mph
Anybody any insight as to what might be the problem

Possibly the shift selector , it's electronic , maybe sending incorrect signals. ??

The selector is on the wheel ........have you the time and/or able to explain how/why once selected to Drive, the stick selector 'jumps' to Park ? As this only happens when I've come toa stop or have slowed to almost stop......as if it's getting an additional signal at that point ?

As above, it does seem like a fault on the column stalk. It only goes into PARK when stationary because there are interlocks to prevent the car from going into PARK when moving .....
When everything is as it should be, you can move the selector & nothing SHOULD happen .... I have inadvertently tried to select PARK when on the move on my previous Merc & you get a message along the lines of only being able to select Park when stationary.

I belive there is a fault with the eis (ignition switch) that causes this fault, assuming your car is a w212
